EastEnders fans have been left repulsed by Reiss Colwell’s latest action on the BBC One soap.
Accountant Reiss (Johnny Freeman) has been overwhelmed in recent months with money troubles, after falling behind on wife Debbie’s care home bills. As fans will recall Debbie was in a coma after suffering a stroke in the bath.
And with partner Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) pregnant, Reiss felt the pressure even more so. However, last week, he resorted to horrifying measures when he murdered Debbie.
What’s more, Reiss has also fleeced Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) out of thousands of pounds recently. He conjured up a lie about a fake investment scheme for their business – something Sharon believed.
Later on, Reiss was informed by the police that Debbie’s post-mortem had been carried out. They also told him he could visit her in the mortuary – and he went and paid Debbie a visit.
In the mortuary, an emotional Reiss spoke to a lifeless Debbie, convincing himself he had done her a favour as she had no quality of life. However, things soon took a harrowing turn, when he committed yet another crime.
Walking over to her body, Reiss removed her engagement ring from her finger. He then shoved it in his pocket before swiftly leaving the room. And it’s fair to say fans were livid at Reiss’ for stealing Debbie’s engagement ring.
One fuming viewer wrote on a Corrie Facebook fan page: “So Reiss is that much of a low he stole Debbie’s engagement ring.” Someone else replied: “He’s Desperate! Everything getting to him now! It was hard to watch though and what an actor. Plays the part so well. I must say.”
A third wrote: “Disgusting, I just hope he gets caught soon.” Another fan chimed in and proclaimed: “Sonia needs to take the blinkers off and realise Reiss is covered in red flags.”
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
