Joy Behar and Chris Rock were spotted at a Hamptons fundraising stop by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Thursday — where tickets fetched up to $150,000.
Presidential candidate Kamala Harris did not participate in the event, but Walz was a hit with the crowd, we’re told.
The fundraiser was held at the Southampton home of tech couple Stuart Butterfield, the CEO of Slack, and Jen Rubio, the CEO of Away.
We’re told that Rock spent most of the afternoon hanging out with former “Saturday Night Live” producer Marci Klein.
Mumford & Sons provided the entertainment, and the menu included chicken sammies and lobster rolls, we hear.
An attendee described the afternoon as having “high, positive energy.”
That’s a far cry from when President Joe Biden was in the Hamptons in late June right before he dropped out of the race. Biden had appeared in the Hamps following his disastrous debate against Donald Trump that sent his campaign spiraling — and one Democratic insider called the Hamptons appearance a “Band-Aid on a bullet wound” at the time.
Tickets ranged from $6,600 (with limited availability), to $150,000 to host the event.
We hear that tickets at all levels were completely sold out.
Despite the big spenders in the room, Walz was “humble and a genuine dude. He is the nicest man ever,” our source said of the Minnesota pol.
A source told us that Harris skipped the East End event, because the summer season is almost over — but that she will instead appear at a larger NYC fundraiser this fall.
However, Harris hubby, Doug Emhoff, will appear at further events in the Hamptons later this month — including one on Aug. 31 alongside Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, according to a DNC invite obtained by Page Six.
The Hamptons have always been a hot spot for A-listers and high-profile events, and the recent fundraiser attended by Joy Behar and Chris Rock was no exception. The event, hosted by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, drew in big-ticket attendees who were willing to shell out up to $150,000 for a chance to rub shoulders with the political elite. While Kamala Harris was notably absent from the event, Walz managed to charm the crowd with his down-to-earth demeanor. The fundraiser took place at the lavish Southampton home of tech power couple Stuart Butterfield and Jen Rubio, adding an air of exclusivity to the affair.Celebrities like Chris Rock were seen mingling with industry insiders, such as former “Saturday Night Live” producer Marci Klein. The entertainment for the afternoon was provided by none other than Mumford & Sons, adding a touch of class to the already swanky event.Guests were treated to a menu filled with delicious offerings, including chicken sandwiches and lobster rolls. The overall vibe of the afternoon was described as having “high, positive energy,” a stark contrast to a similar event attended by Joe Biden earlier in the summer.Despite the hefty price tag attached to the tickets, attendees were completely sold out at all levels. Walz, in particular, was praised for his humble and genuine nature, earning him admiration from those in attendance. It’s clear that he made a lasting impression on the crowd with his easygoing personality. While Harris may have missed out on the Hamptons event, sources say she will be making an appearance at a larger fundraiser in NYC this fall. In the meantime, her husband Doug Emhoff is set to attend a series of events in the Hamptons later this month, alongside Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.Overall, the fundraiser was a success, drawing in top names and big spenders for a worthy cause. It’s evident that the allure of the Hamptons continues to attract movers and shakers from all walks of life, making it a hotspot for high-profile events and unforgettable experiences.
