Emmerdale harks back to its farmyard roots next week when Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) finds himself in a potentially lethal situation with a bull.
He’s had quite a year has Mack, having been stabbed by wife Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), and being involved in a spectacular car crash that saw him on the edge of a cliff.
This storyline is quite literally a load of bull
‘There’s more than I care to remember. I genuinely forget how many times I’ve been hurt’ Lawrence told us.
‘Oh yeah, I was beat up at Christmas. It’s always good fun to film, the differences that can bring. Keep it coming’ he joked.
In upcoming scenes, Mack is fixing a quadbike on Butler’s Farm when he’s suddenly blocked inside by a bull.
Psyching himself up for what could be a deadly altercation with the animal, he quickly bolts towards the barn gate – and is chased.
Whilst Mack finds himself in the deadly situation, it was quite the opposite for Lawrence, who explained: ‘The bull that we were working with was difficult to say the least, when I say difficult, I mean it was the most placid and least dangerous bull I think in the world.
‘We had to get it to run down a very narrow corridor and it gently sauntered. I’m looking forward to seeing this because we couldn’t get it to run. It’s going to be lots of random shots of the bull’s face, and bull noises, and me running away from it. We couldn’t really do anything about that.’
He continued: ‘He was just a big, giant teddy bear. He was so unbothered. “Oh, are we going? Right, fine. Let’s do it.” It was very funny to work with.’
Luckily, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) is just around the corner and rushes in to find him injured, and with the bull stood over him.
The two become convinced that newbie John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) is responsible for opening the gate, after an earlier altercation involving his van.
‘Basically, Mack steals [John’s] van, and the aftermath is that he’s convinced once he’s found out about that, he’s got revenge on him by letting the bull loose’ Lawrence explained.
‘It causes carnage because by this point, John is working on the farm and Mack is not happy about that.’
Later, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) confronts John over what happened, but passion takes over…
Elsewhere, Charity tries to motivate Mack to plot their revenge, but he goes quiet and woozy before collapsing and losing consciousness.
Will Mack be ok?
