And one viewer reckons they’ve worked it out… and it has nothing to do with her health, suggesting that something much more sinister is going on. Moreover, it could also secretly involve another family member.
The much-loved villager ( Natalie J Robb ) has been acting completely out of character in recent weeks, leaving the rest of the D.i.n.g.l.e.s deeply concerned for her wellbeing. After suffering from a terrifying seizure last week, it has been clear that she’s not well.
Many fans are convinced that Moira will either be diagnosed with a brain tumour or early-onset dementia, given her continuing to forget things and become confused in various scenarios. From telling her son that they would discuss something at home when they were already at home to almost accidentally k.i.l.l.i.n.g h.e.r brother McKenzie Boyd during a recent episode, something is most definitely wrong.
One viewer has a very different theory though – that Moira is actually being drugged by a current villager. They tweeted: “So, John Sugden isn’t actually John Sugden. He’s drugging both Moira and Mack cos he is really a long lost bitter half brother of them!! #emmerdale.”

It comes after ahead of a deadly blaze next week, which has Moira right at the centre of it. A huge explosion will rip through the barn on her farm and will lead to a number of people fighting for their lives. Soon enough events lead to the deadly fire, and in a twist Ruby’s voice begins to blur with Moira’s old n.e.m.e.s.i.s Emma Barton’s. Moira believes she’s seeing the woman she killed in 2017.
Emma had nearly k.i.l.l.e.d h.e.r in a fire shortly before when Moira went into labour, and next week a dazed Moira believes Emma is in the barn. Speaking about the scenes and Moira’s behaviour, actress Natalie has teased what could be going on with her.
After a recent collapse and her admitting she didn’t think she was well, Moira’s situation may finally be explained next week. Speaking to The Mirror and other press about what is going on with Moira, Natalie said: “She’s got no idea what is happening to her.
“Definitely the PTSD comes through because we’re in the barn, the triggers are what it was before, it was Emma Barton in the barn when she tried to kill me, and then I had a baby I didn’t know I was having! Only in Emmerdale! So I think it sets something off in her, she starts to see Emma’s face in Rubys’ face. Ruby obviously doesn’t know what is going on, Moira has totally lost the plot.”
