EastEnders fans have spotted a clue that Nish Panesar isn’t really dying – as his true motive is exposed.
Nish arrived back in Albert Square a few months back, where he told his family that he was terminally ill. However, fans have long been suspicious he isn’t telling the truth – and think he could actually be back with other motives.
He has been keeping his cards about the money and their inheritance close to his chest and refusing to make any solid decisions about it, but fans are convinced they’ve noticed a clue that he is actually well and is playing his own family.
Taking to Reddit, one fan wrote: “Did anyone notice when Nish came out of the taxi he only started having a coughing fit once he saw Ravi walking past the Vic. Could this possibly be him faking an illness to make his family feel sorry for him? I know this is very unlikely but you can’t expect anything in the EE universe,” whilst another suggested: “I still keep thinking that Ravi, Nugget or Vinny are going to get into some horrific accident and being a compatible donor, Nish will get their heart.”

A third penned: “I think he’ll cause the injury. Potentially pushing one of them to death by suicide. He’s definitely out for a new heart,” with a fourth adding: “It could it be possible that the lady doctor who confirmed Nish’s illness was paid off to say that or is in cahoots with her?. Bent professionals do exist.” A fifth shared: “He’s not faking the illness (we’ve seen this medically confirmed) but he 100% started fake coughing and acting ill/weak to make Ravi sympathetic to his confession.”
Giving his own verdict on the character, actor Navin Chowdhry – who plays Nish – explained how he tried to “humanise” the villain.
“If he hasn’t got long left, he genuinely wants to reconnect and seek redemption. He was in prison for 20 years and wasn’t there for a substantial part of his children’s lives, and genuinely wants to experience them as a family.
“Nish is still flawed but there is an argument that there is humanity within us all, it’s possible to find compassion somewhere in there,” he said, “Seeing him so weak and a shadow of his former self is really fascinating. One reason I came on board wasn’t to just play an out and out villain, I wanted to humanise him in some way.”
EastEnders fans have been buzzing with theories about Nish Panesar and whether or not he is actually dying. Despite his claims of a terminal illness, many viewers are skeptical and believe he may have ulterior motives.
One fan on Reddit pointed out a curious detail, noting that Nish only started coughing when he saw Ravi walking past the Vic. Could this be a sign that he is faking his illness to manipulate his family’s sympathy?
Others have speculated even darker possibilities, suggesting that Nish could be planning something sinister like causing an accident to obtain a heart for a transplant. The mistrust extends to the doctor who confirmed Nish’s illness, with some fans theorizing that she may have been bribed or is involved in a conspiracy.
Actor Navin Chowdhry, who portrays Nish, shared his insights on the character’s complexity. He highlighted Nish’s desire for redemption and reconnecting with his family after spending two decades in prison. Chowdhry emphasized the importance of humanizing villains and showcasing their inner struggles and vulnerabilities.
While the truth about Nish’s condition remains uncertain, one thing is clear – the character has generated intense speculation and intrigue among EastEnders enthusiasts.
