Emmerdale‘s Samson Dingle finally does the right thing
next week as he takes steps to clear Matty Barton’s name.
Samson speaks to the police to change his statement following
pressure from his stepmum Lydia.
This week’s episodes see Lydia realise that Samson is lying about what really
happened on the day that he was stabbed at The Hide.
In follow-on scenes next week, Samson receives conflicting advice from
two of his closest family members. His dad Sam encourages him to do a runner from the village, worried that he’ll face big trouble if his lies are exposed.

Lydia is disgusted by this drastic suggestion and urges Samson to face the music with the police.
Samson chooses to listen to Lydia and visits the police station to share the real story of how he was stabbed. He finally admits that it was an accident and Matty wasn’t to blame.
Sam is furious with Lydia for interfering, while other members of the Dingle family also give Lydia a hard time for wanting to involve the police.
Two Dingles who certainly aren’t complaining are Moira and Cain, who are pleased that Matty’s innocence has been confirmed at last. Moira is hopeful that Matty will be released from prison soon.

Cain’s loyalty towards Matty infuriates Sam, which ultimately leads to Sam punching Cain to the ground during a tense encounter at The Woolpack.
Despite this, Cain shows no signs of backing down. He even pays a stern visit to the Dingle house to make sure that Samson doesn’t still intend to run away.
Sam seethes over Cain’s meddling, while Samson worries about what might happen to him if he’s left alone with a vengeful Cain.
Back at the prison, Matty is left hopeful over the future when he’s told about Samson’s unexpected confession.

As Matty won’t be released immediately, he knows that he has to somehow survive in jail for a while longer.
The signs aren’t looking good, as fellow prisoner Robbo continues to goad Matty with violent threats.
Some of the other inmates also shout out transphobic comments. Alone in his cell, Matty fears for his life – will he be freed before things get any worse?
