to realise the extent of which her husband Tom has been abusing her.
After little Piper’s death, Belle decided to go to the police to
speak to them about the abuse she’s been receiving. But, one thing has been neglected throughout this storyline and it involves Chas Dingle – and fans have complained that it makes no sense at all!
Emmerdale: Belle goes to the police about Tom
This week, Belle was left heartbroken (and so was the rest of the nation) after finding out that her beloved pet dog – Piper – had sadly passed away after being knocked over by a car.
It wasn’t long before she started accusing Tom of killing the pup, sharing her concerns with Lydia. However, Belle’s loved ones didn’t believe that he would do something like that.
Realising that Tom had been abusing her, Belle decided to take action and go to the police about her abusive husband.
She explained how he’d been treating her, bringing up Claire’s Law. She, however, didn’t want to officially report Tom…
Tom’s past with Chas seems to have been forgotten…
So, let’s get this right… when Charity had concerns about Tom’s behaviour, none of the Dingles sided with her.
And, when Belle voiced her upset of Tom, the Dingles were quick to blame everything on Belle’s mental illness. At not one point has Chas remembered that Tom actually stalked her and made her life hell in the past.
Now, fans aren’t impressed with the oversight, noting that Chas would’ve been the first person they’d expect to support Belle and believe that something’s up with Tom’s behaviour.
One fan wrote: “This story has such flaws. If Charity is concerned, how come she hasn’t discussed it with Chas who had abuse from Tom’s dad, Carl? They haven’t involved Chas in any of the storyline yet she knows how twisted the men are more than anyone. Also, with a brother like Cain, why is Belle not turning to him for protection?”
Another person added: “Charity did say she’d be keeping a close eye on Tom. But I think it should be Chas as she’s had experience dealing with Tom before.”
A third viewer previously wondered: “The Dingles are thick as [bleep]. Have they forgotten all the [bleep] Tom put Chas through?”
