An intriguing phone call sets off a mystery involving Aaron Dingle in Emmerdale. Victoria Sugden is overwhelmed in upcoming episodes after discovering that Eric Pollard orchestrated her sacking from the Hide. She turns to Aaron for support, but he’s preoccupied with his own issues.
Eric engineered Victoria’s dismissal as revenge for her breaking up with his grandson, Jacob Gallagher, and breaking his heart. Eric blackmailed Jai Sharma into firing Victoria by falsely claiming she had put broken glass in customers’ food. Meanwhile, Brenda Walker starts to uncover Eric’s schemes, including his vendetta against Amit for Rishi’s death. When Brenda learns what happened with Victoria, she’s furious and demands Eric make amends. He offers Victoria a job in his shop, which she gratefully accepts, but Brenda is livid that Eric is basking in her gratitude without admitting his wrongdoing.
Eventually, Eric confesses, leaving Victoria enraged and struggling to make ends meet. She turns to Aaron, hoping he’ll listen to her frustrations, but he’s distracted by something on his phone. Life gets even more complicated for Victoria and Aaron with the arrival of a new character, John Sugden. Eric Pollard soon confirms that John could be Victoria’s half-brother, which would also make him the brother of Aaron’s ex, Robert Sugden, who is currently in jail for attacking Lee Posner, Victoria’s rapist.
John’s arrival is set to stir things up, and Emmerdale bosses have hinted that he will catch the eye of an unsuspecting resident, potentially Aaron. Danny Miller, who plays Aaron, suggested at the Radio Times Awards that the new Sugden arrival will bring interesting developments, especially given Aaron’s history with Robert. It promises to be an eventful few months ahead in the village.
