Emmerdale star Emma Atkins has teased an upcoming moment in Tom King (James Chase) and Belle Dingle’s (Eden Taylor-Draper) abuse storyline.
Last week, after Tom got electrocuted in a barn, Charity Dingle paid a visit to Dale Head to see how he was.
As Charity got chatting to Tom, it became clear he didn’t want the focus to be on him.
Tom then revealed Belle’s recent miscarriage to Charity and made out that she feels shame over the fact her body couldn’t carry their baby.
When Charity returned to the pub, she expressed her thoughts to Noah (Jack Downham) and wondered if Tom was hiding something.
She said to Noah that no-one can be as ‘perfect’ as Tom without having an ulterior motive.
With that, Charity tried to stage an intervention. She asked for help from some Dingle women and got Belle to the pub, hoping she would open up about Tom but sadly, it didn’t quite work.
Outside, Charity gently asked Belle again if she wanted to tell her anything but when Belle spotted Tom in the distance, she panicked and ran off.
With Charity set to play a huge role in the next part of this storyline, actress Emma Atkins has been speaking to This Morning’s Sharon Marshall about what’s ahead.
‘She’s been there with historical abuse but she can’t be sure either, she’s playing a very dangerous game because as soon as you open the flood gates and you’re wrong…he’s so clever Tom, isn’t he? It’s why no one is picking up on these traits and behavioural changes’, she said.
‘It’s difficult stuff to watch as well. We need to have these discussions happening in our own living rooms not just for women, but for men as well. It’s so important that we express that through the storyline happening at the moment.
‘I think the audience are going to be screaming at the TV when Charity finally gets to have her moment with Belle’.
In the episode of the ITV soap being broadcasted on Wednesday, July 3 – but is currently available to view on ITVX – Tom attended a zoom call for a job interview.
The lady explained to Tom that if he was to be offered this new vet role, it would require moving to a very remote part of Wales.
This didn’t seem an issue for Tom because of course, to him, a house in the middle of nowhere would be the perfect place to trap Belle.
When she returned home from her walk, Tom turned his attention to them potentially going on holiday.
Rather than plant a seed about a few weeks in a sunny place overseas, Tom proposed spending time in the Welsh countryside.
Tom showed Belle a picture of the house they’d potentially stay in and said they can go when he’s feeling a bit better. Belle thought it was a perfect idea.
As she made her way into the kitchen, Tom smirked. He said that according to the other people who have visited, once they get to the house…they’ll never want to leave.
