Emmerdale has unveiled another chilling twist for Tom King as he plots to relocate to Wales with his vulnerable wife Belle, in an attempt to cut her off from her loved ones.
Regular viewers of the ITV soap will be aware that Tom has been tormenting Belle and making her life a living nightmare. The villain has also been creating a rift between Belle and her family and friends, while displaying a violent side.
The only character who is suspicious of Tom’s appalling behaviour is Charity Dingle, who attempted to stage an intervention on Monday (July 1). She recruited Chas, Lydia and Mandy Dingle to help whisk Belle away to the Woolpack for a girls’ gathering.
Charity anticipated that Belle would insist she needed to stay at home to look after her recently electrocuted husband, so she arranged for Paddy Kirk and Jimmy King to keep him company.
Charity tried to encourage Belle to open up about her marriage but it had the reverse effect as Belle defended Tom, and their get-together ended on a sour note, reports the Express.
As Charity’s plan backfired, Tom realised she was getting closer to uncovering the truth so he made a phone call to express interest in a new job based in Wales.
During Wednesday’s visit to the village (July 3), Tom initiated his new scheme as he plans to isolate Belle by moving her away from friends and family.
Sat at a laptop donning a smart suit and a smug grin, Tom spoke to his potential new employer who voiced concern over the couple wanting to move to a very remote part of Wales.
She declared: “This isn’t so much of a question but something we’re emphasising to all of our applicants. I know that you’re currently working in a rural precinct, but it’s important that your give serious thought to where this job is located.”
Tom was chuffed to bits as he responded: “Well I have friends in Wales.” The interviewer then dropped the bombshell: “It’s extremely isolated. Apart from a handful of farmers there’s really no-one, how does your wife feel about the move? “.
Tom, spinning another yarn, said: “To be honest, she’s actually keen. She’s always loved the quiet life, something like this – it’s perfect for her.”
Before the sit-down, Tom nudged Belle to take their pooch Piper out for a stroll, not wanting her “burning bridges with family”, in yet another scheme to seem like Mr Innocent.
“I mean I wish she wasn’t getting it so wrong, but I’m actually glad she cares enough to stick her neck out”, he uttered, egging Belle on to exit the premises so he could crack on with his interview. Is Tom’s cunning plot to ditch the village for a remote Welsh hideaway about to come off?
