UPCOMING Emmerdale scenes suggest even more danger is ahead for Belle Dingle.
Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) married her former boyfriend Tom King (James Chase) earlier this year, having previously dated as teenagers.
In the months since tying the knot, Tom had been subjecting his wife to physical and emotional abuse.
Fans of the ITV soap finally saw Belle break free during Wednesday’s (July 24) tense episode.
Despite this, scenes yet to air hint that she isn’t fully in the clear just yet.
Spoilers reveal that Tom continues to watch Belle carefully, from a distance.
He is left glowering after seeing his wife have a chat and make-up hug with her friend Vinny (Bradley Johnson).
Following this, Tom starts to spin the narrative to his aunt Nicola (Nicola Wheeler).
He suggests Belle has already set her sights on Vinny, deliberately painting her in a bad light.
Nicola soon finds herself unwittingly offering Tom a roof over his head.
Tom, on the other hand, suggests to Belle that she can move back into their old house, as he has already paid the rent.
While presenting this as a generous offer, sly Tom has covertly arranged a secret key when the locksmith changes the house’s locks for Belle.
After a mental health visit, Belle processes whether she is a victim of abuse.
Will she finally realise the extent of the abuse she has suffered?
In the scenes leading up to her break for freedom, Belle found herself trapped inside a remote cottage in Wales.
She overheard Tom discussing extending their cottage rental and moving to Wales permanently – in an attempt to isolate Belle from her family.
After tricking Tom and locking him inside the cottage, she grabbed their dog Piper, the keys and fled to safety.
The twisted Veterinarian had managed to break his way out, but Belle escaped as she rushed onto a bus.
Although she had no money and no phone, she was finally free from her abusive husband – but how will he worm his way back into Belle’s life?
Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
