EXCLUSIVE: Prince Andrew will be joined by his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, their children Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and their grandchildren at Balmoral.
Prince Andrew is set to join the rest of the Royal Family at Balmoral this summer, Express.co.uk has learned.
According to our well-placed source, the younger brother of King Charles will be joined by his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, their children Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and grandchildren on the Scottish estate next week.
The insider adds that it will prove a welcome trip for the prince who has been a virtual recluse at Royal Lodge in Windsor since the beginning of the year.
“Andrew has hardly left Royal Lodge since Christmas so he’s very much looking forward to getting away with the rest of the family at Balmoral,” said the source.
“He’s turned into a bit of a recluse, so the girls are hoping that some nice family time with the children will help cheer him up a bit and bring him out of his shell.”
Express.co.uk was the first to reveal in July that Princess Kate will join Prince William and their three children at the Royal Family’s summer holiday this year.
The Sussexes have been left off the official guest list so that King Charles, 75, and Kate, Princess of Wales, 42, can enjoy family time following a difficult year.
“Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be joining the rest of the Royal Family,” said a source.
“The King is keen for it to be a happy family occasion which will see members of the family come together for just over a week to discuss plans for the future and to unwind.”
Express.co.uk also revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s titles are up for discussion at Balmoral when the Royal Family meet up for pre-arranged meetings next week.
According to our source, one point of discussion at what has been dubbed a “Royal Family summit” will be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and how they will fit in with the Royal Family over the next decade.
“The Royal Family are meeting at Balmoral to discuss a number of different things, but one of them will be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” said the source.
“What people don’t realise is that the Balmoral gathering isn’t just a summer holiday. The family also participates in pre-arranged meetings where they discuss the family’s current position and how they can best prepare for the future.
“Last year was very much about honouring the Queen as it was the King’s first time hosting the gathering since her death, but this will be about how the family can best move forward without the Sussexes.
“Not only will Harry and Meghan’s tours and upcoming trip to Canada be on the agenda, but also their titles and peerages will be up for discussion.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are currently undertaking a quasi-royal tour of Colombia, were given their titles by the late Queen Elizabeth II on the day they married on May 19, 2018.
Other members of the Royal Family due at Balmoral this year include Princess Anne and her husband Timothy Laurence.
Queen Camilla’s children and grandchildren are set to join in the fun at Balmoral and will stay in the main castle which is usually used to entertain guests.
Queen Camilla is a very proud grandmother of five. Her son, Tom Parker Bowles, has Lola, 16, and Freddy, 14, and her daughter, Laura Lopes, has Eliza, 16, and 14-year-old twins, Louis and Gus.
Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, will, of course, be in attendance, as will the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s children Lady Louise Windsor, 19, and James, Earl of Wessex, 16.
Other members of the family expected to join them include Mike and Zara Tindall’s three children, daughters Mia, 10, and Lena, 6, and son Lucas, 3, although they still might head off early as Zara has entered the Wellington International Horse Trials on the last weekend in August.
