This article contains spoilers for the second episode of EastEnders set to air on Thursday (July 11), which has not yet been shown on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

EastEnders legend Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) left us crying into our dinner as he broke down in emotional scenes this week.

Phil has pushed away all of his loved ones over the past few days due to a range of disagreements, and now he has found himself totally alone.

First of all, Phil was left gutted when neither of his older children contacted him on Father’s Day back in June – something which Stevie Mitchell (Alan Ford) was quick to point out this week during an argument.

Phil has made his feelings about Stevie clear, even going so far as to frame him for stealing Lola’s charity money.

After finding out the truth about the missing money, Billy confronted Phil, and made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with him going forward.

Despite this, Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) went out of his way to invite Phil to the family meal in recent scenes, though it did nothing to repair his relationship with the family.

When an argument broke out between him and Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway), even Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) was reluctant to take Phil’s side, and soon he headed off home alone.

However, he was set to further alienate himself from his family when he snapped at son Raymond not once, but twice, resulting in Denise Fox (Diane Parish) taking him to stay with Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter).

Phil was devastated, and begged her not to take his son away, but she made her feelings very clear.

When Phil headed back to the house, he was all alone, and soon broke down in his armchair in front of all his family photos.

Is Phil’s relationship with his family beyond repair, or will he manage to get back in the fold?

First, Phil was heartbroken when neither of his older children reached out to him on Father’s Day back in June, a point Stevie Mitchell (Alan Ford) was quick to bring up during an argument this week.

Despite his attempts to mend fences, Phil’s relationships with his family only seemed to deteriorate further. Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) invited Phil to a family meal, but it did little to repair the damage.

Things took a turn for the worse when Phil snapped at his son Raymond, prompting Denise Fox (Diane Parish) to take him to stay with Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter). Phil was devastated at the thought of losing his son, but Denise made her feelings clear.
